Cappadocia
DuPont Tyvek Design Competition 2021 2rd Prize
Inspired by the renowned tourist city of Cappadocia in Turkey, renowned for its hot air balloon rides, this project introduces the Cappadocia Tabletop Hot Air Balloon Lamp. Crafted from lightweight, heat-resistant, and light-transmitting Tyvek material, this lamp embodies flexibility and ductility. Its design replicates the appearance of a hot air balloon, while also maintaining an element of practicality.
One remarkable feature is the integration of magnetic levitation technology, allowing the balloon lamp to effortlessly float above its base. Conveniently, the lamp can be easily switched on and off, and the brightness adjusted with a simple touch of a button on the base. The Tyvek material serves as the lampshade, casting a soft, even, and warm light, all the while accentuating the visual allure and levitation effect reminiscent of a real hot air balloon.
